Montgomery Parks FY2020 budget was recently approved by the Montgomery County Council. Thanks to support from parks advocates, the council has restored nearly $2 million in Parks funding. With this restored funding, Montgomery Parks is able to hire six new staff positions for crucial programs and initiatives and provide funding for the athletic fields program.
The restored funding will also be used to operate new parks and buildings including:
The restored funding also supports program enhancements, including:
A chart detailing Parks’ restored funding priorities is available online.
Thanks to the support of park advocates and patrons Montgomery Parks is able to continue providing a beautiful, healthy, safe park system that is enjoyed by so many people every day.
Each year, Montgomery Parks needs additional resources to operate. If we do not receive additional resources each year to care for our growing parks system, programs suffer, facilities deteriorate, and we lose the capacity to provide activities and resources for community residents.
A successful budget outcome is never guaranteed. We rely on a committed contingent of park enthusiasts to successfully advocate on our behalf. We are always looking for new voices to advocate on behalf of parks. We want the Montgomery County Council to hear from park advocates and advocacy groups on an ongoing basis in support of the parks budget.

Thank you for the continued support!
