Project Description

This project will focus on the renovation of the playground at Hillwood Manor Neighborhood Park, located at 1301 Elson St. in Takoma Park. The existing playground equipment has aged beyond the point where replacement parts can be ordered. New equipment is desired to meet the needs of the neighborhood.

BackgroundSwingset at Hillwood Manor Neighborhood Park

M-NCPPC acquired the park in 1950. The playground sits within the two-acre park along Sligo Creek with direct access to the Sligo Creek Trail and other park amenities. The renovation project is a part of the Playground Renovation Program. The project will provide new playground equipment and site upgrades, enhance accessibility, and improve stormwater management at the site.

Status/Project Update

Montgomery Parks is currently seeking initial input from the community on what they would like to see within their playground as they develop design concepts.  A community meeting was held on June 23, 2020.  Community members are encouraged to provide their input via Open Town Hall.   Design concepts will be presented to the community for review in Fall 2020.
